How to Create Your Own Solstice Ritual
You don’t need to be in a temple to connect with the sacred. You can create a Solstice ritual right where you are with intention, cacao, and a few simple elements.
Prepare your sacred Space as an Altar
Create a small altar where you can sit in presence and connection. Face the east, where the sun rises and new beginnings are born. In the Mayan tradition, altars often include natural offerings that honor the four directions and the elements. You might gather flowers, cacao beans, maize, feathers, crystals, water, or stones. Each one represents a connection to ulew (earth), ja’ (water), ik’ (air), and k’ak’ (fire).
Light your Fire (or Candle)
The fire is seen as a living being, a messenger that carries prayers and intentions to the spirit world. As you light your flame, speak your gratitude to the sun for life, clarity, and growth. You may wish to use wildcrafted incense to invite the spirits and clear your space. Offer a few words from your heart, or simply breathe with presence.
Prepare your Cacao
